1) Please share with us your background before joining AnyMind Group
I have been in the advertising, banking and tech industries for 13 years and was fortunate enough to have experienced working in one of the well-renowned local publishing companies, being immersed in different cultures – having been able to work in Singapore doing marketing and sales for brand and being part of some huge names in tech industry, local and regional, when I came back here in the Philippines.

2) What do you do in your job role, and how does it fit into the wider range of AnyMind Group’s business?
Simply put, I help get clients and make sure the company is revenue generating. To elaborate further, I am part of the Business Development team who hunts AND grows clients. Doesn’t end here though as I lead and collaborate with different teams in coming up with compelling, competitive and well-curated pitches to win campaigns and onboard clients.

3) What is an often misunderstood aspect of your job role?
That it is easy and we just do sell because to be honest, it’s not. Apart from the stressful targets, again, it does not end in closing deals. As one of those who leads in pitches, we should be able to understand the NEED and PAIN POINTS of clients and make sure that we provide them solutions. We do not just relay client’s asks, we tell a story and with collaboration with different teams, we make them understand how we can be of help by providing a bigger picture and vision of what they want to convey to their audience. It also requires creativity and resourcefulness.

4) How has your time been at AnyMind so far? What are the things that stand out to you about the company?
Been here for over 2 years and things are going really well not only for me but for the team. There are certainly ups and downs but we make sure to celebrate wins over struggles and we face them together. Collaboration is always key here and what’s practiced. Everyone’s given the voice to elaborate thoughts and creative inputs may it be for internal process, external dealings or even in company recreations. It’s important to be heard and understood which AnyMind provides. There’s also a right amount of balance between work and fun – We are hard at work but we make sure to decompress. We win accounts and we celebrate it, big or small.

5) How is it like working as part of your local team and also as part of the wider regional unit? What are the unique quirks or habits of the team?
Definitely fun! We always make sure to start our huddles with a little chit chat – how’s the day going? Did you have a fun weekend? Why do you look sad (even this!!!)? How’s one’s holiday? That actually makes the meeting, especially stressful ones, bearable.

6) What are some key traits that you feel people in your role should have, and why?
Persistence, Creativity and Consistency. These three, when combined together, creates a valuable output. Sales in advertising is not as glamorous as it sounds and definitely not as easy as it looks, especially when there are other competitors offering the same in the market. You really need to know and understand what sets you apart from the rest and be able to clearly send across to potential clients the benefits of getting your services. And this is not as simple as presenting company credentials to them as one needs to be creative enough to tell the story to the team and navigate the ship towards an impactful pitch. Continuous drive is also important. While it’s not always Sunday for us and self-motivation is a lot of work to do at times, we must stay focused on our goals and hit the ground running every time.

7) What is one AnyMind platform that you cannot do without, and why?
AnyTag! Because I really believe in the power of Influencer Marketing, from first-hand experience. It’s really played a vital role in marketing and has seen the growth of this space. The platform becomes really useful for marketers when utilized especially because it’s data driven and makes curating a campaign a breeze.

Adobo

8) What is that one favourite local food that you would like to introduce to readers?
Definitely Adobo! No list of Filipino food would be complete without this! Not only because it’s easy to cook but also because the variations that can be done – Pork Adobo with Tofu, Water Spinach Adobo, Mussels and even…peanut!
