Meet Hannah Wang: Senior Account Strategist, Singapore

1) Please share with us your background before joining AnyMind Group
I grew up in China but moved to Singapore to pursue a Master’s degree at NTU. My professional journey began with an Ad Ops internship at Shopee, where I had the opportunity to manage Shopee Platform Ads for their clients. Before the internship ended, I was offered a full-time position at Shopee, and I made the decision to continue working in Singapore.

Currently, I am working in the Account Strategy team at AnyMind Group, which marks my second job in the industry. In this role, I thoroughly enjoy developing digital marketing strategies tailored to the unique needs of various clients.

2) Explain like I’m five: What do you do in your role, and how does it fit into the wider range of AnyMind Group’s business?
On a daily basis, you will see various advertisements within different platforms, such as Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, etc.

For example, while scrolling through TikTok during your subway commute, you will encounter advertisements from different brands. Basically, these ads you see are delivered by brands – but the technology and operations behind them is much more complicated!

We offer optimal strategies and solutions to our clients, enabling them to maximize their ads’ performance and fuel business growth.

3) How has your time been at AnyMind so far? What are the things that stand out to you about the company?
I am thoroughly enjoying my time working at AnyMind Group so far; it has far exceeded my expectations.

I am truly grateful for all that my boss has taught me in the past 6 months. Not only has he provided guidance in my work, but he also showed genuine care for my personal growth.

I also appreciate having coworkers who feel like friends. During work hours, we support one another and collaborate as a team. After work, we often engage in activities together such as exercising, running, and enjoying meals at wonderful restaurants.

4) How is it like working as part of your local team and also as part of the wider regional unit? What are the unique quirks or habits of the team?
I work with both local and regional teams on a daily basis.
Communicating with my local colleagues is convenient now because we are back to working in the office. If there are urgent matters, I can simply approach them at their desks.

Collaborating with the regional team is surprisingly efficient. One of my projects involves coordinating with an Account Manager in Japan, while operations are handled by the HOC team. Despite the time difference and the fact that we haven’t met in person, everyone responds promptly, and the efficiency is high.

5) What are some key traits that you feel people in your role should have, and why?

  • Analytical Skills: Being able to analyze data, metrics, and trends is crucial. This helps in understanding the effectiveness of ad campaigns, identifying areas for improvement, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Time Management: Excelling in this role requires juggling multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities. Strong time management skills help us stay organized, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work efficiently.
  • Attention to Detail: Paying close attention to details ensures accuracy in campaign execution, tracking, and reporting. It helps maintain consistency and ensures that campaigns align with clients’ expectations and objectives.

6) What is an often misunderstood aspect of your role?
It’s the level of complexity and technical expertise required for the AS team. Some may perceive us as simply executing tasks related to launching and managing ad campaigns. But an account strategist encompasses a range of responsibilities, including supporting clients for their campaign setup, ad trafficking, tracking implementation, data analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.

7) What is one AnyMind platform that you cannot do without, and why?
AnyDigital is a platform that is extremely important to me. It allows me to easily visualize data and analyze the performance of advertisements. This means that apart from bringing in ad demand, our publisher network is also able to tap on a variety of features on AnyManager to improve user engagement and acquisition, user dwell times and user satisfaction – basically, even though the ad inventory is already high-quality, we’re taking measures to improve this quality even more!

8) What is that one favorite local food that you would like to introduce to readers?
Laksa!!

I had never tasted it before I came to Singapore, but it has quickly become a personal favorite. It is a rich and aromatic noodle soup known for its combination of spices, coconut milk, and a variety of toppings.
