AnyMind Group, an end-to-end commerce enablement platform for brands, influencers and publishers, together with Gizmodo Japan, a title under Japanese publisher Mediagene, have today announced a collaboration that offers an e-commerce store specializing in gadgets called Giz Yatai. Gizmodo Japan is the Japanese version of Gizmodo, one of the largest gadget blogs globally.
The concept of Giz Yatai is an online store with a wide variety of gadgets from around the world. Items are curated from Gizmodo Japan’s editorial team, including exotic gadgets, never-before-seen bargains, and more. Giz Yatai looks to be the next generation of “media commerce” by combining software and solutions developed by AnyMind Group for e-commerce and direct-to-consumer growth, and product sourcing from manufacturers across Asia. Additionally, Gizmodo Japan will tap on AnyMind Group’s offerings for e-commerce enablement, marketing, logistics, and more.
In the near future, Giz Yatai will also leverage a consumer-to-manufacturer model, which is a made-to-order production model, where a manufacturer takes orders directly from consumers and creates products without having to hold inventory.
Through the first line of products, the Gizmodo Japan editorial team has selected unique products including “Grid”, a product that enables customers to recycle their old iPhone 4S and iPhone 3GS and turn the phones into artwork, and “TourBox NEO”, a controller that makes it easier for people to navigate creative software such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Lightroom.

Motoko Imada, CEO of Mediagene, said: “In an age where consumers are overwhelmed with goods and find it difficult to make choices about what to buy, Mediagene has been helping users to make purchases by conveying the merits of products with “stories” through media. Through this collaboration with AnyMind Group, we will leverage our mutual experiences to bring new products that are not yet available in the general market to users in Japan, along with stories from Gizmodo Japan’s unique perspective. This way, we aim to provide users with an unprecedented and enjoyable purchasing experience.”
Kosuke Sogo, CEO and co-founder of AnyMind Group said: “In recent years, the diversification of hobbies and interests has led to the creation of many direct-to-consumer brands in Japan and overseas that meet the needs of individuals. In addition, people’s attention and interest in products that have not been distributed globally has been increasing. Through this collaboration with Mediagene, we hope to provide value that is one step ahead of the times through Giz Yatai. In addition to providing these unique products to Japanese consumers, we are also looking to enable a customer-to-manufacturer model for Giz Yatai, further optimizing the supply chain from production all the way to the user’s doorstep.”
