In recent years, global warming, rising sea levels, and other climate anomalies have been constant reminders of the rapid changes in our environment, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation. Energy saving and carbon reduction have become inseparable from our daily lives, prompting us to reflect: How can we, who often work within the confines of an office, make a sustainable contribution to the environment?
Inspired by our corporate philosophy, “Growth For Everyone,” AnyMind Group’s Taiwan branch launched a CSR initiative, mobilizing our employees to plant a native Taiwanese tree species, Cinnamomum kanehirae, in a scenic mountain area in Taichung. Each sapling represents hope for a cooler planet and a commitment to the future, symbolizing our contribution to combat global warming.
Slowing Down to Embrace the Beauty of Nature
The two-day CSR activity began in Guguan Scenic Area, where employees immersed themselves in the tranquility of nature. This retreat provided a chance to unwind from the stress of work, breathe in phytoncides, and experience firsthand the transformative power of forests and trees for both people and the environment.
Picking Up Shovels, Planting Seeds of Hope
This tree-planting initiative was a collaboration with Green Ant Ecological Enterprise, with post-planting care supported by the Yunus Social Business Center at Ching Yun University of Science and Technology. Together, we identified a dedicated plot where employees planted Cinnamomum kanehirae, a unique Taiwanese tree species. Each tree can absorb up to 12 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, producing fresh air and contributing to the fight against global warming. For many of us, this was our first time planting trees, and there was initial concern about whether we could complete the task. However, we quickly distributed saplings, shovels, and gloves to each participant. Everyone dug appropriately sized holes, gently placed the saplings inside, filled the soil back in, and firmly patted the ground to ensure the trees were secure and stable.
As we worked, the initial worries gave way to lively conversations:
“Planting trees isn’t as hard as I thought!”
“It feels so fulfilling and therapeutic to plant a tree with my own hands!”
“Quick, take a picture of me! My sapling looks so cute!”
Many employees posed for photos with their saplings, eagerly anticipating their growth and future contributions to the planet.
Planting 74 Cinnamomum Kanehirae Saplings: Small Acts for Big Change
What began as a vast expanse of flat grassland was transformed through the collective effort of our team into a budding green forest with 74 tree saplings. To commemorate their hard work, each participant received a wooden keychain engraved with a unique QR code that allows them to track the growth of their sapling over time.Through this two-day experience, and by planting trees with their own hands, everyone came to realize that environmental conservation is not just a slogan. A small action, taken by each individual, can bring about meaningful change for the future. Together, we can create a better and more sustainable world.
