Some celebrations don’t need big speeches or flashy events. Sometimes, the best way to show appreciation is to simply hit pause and say, “Today, work can wait. You, however, cannot.”
This Women’s Day, our India team did exactly that. No urgent emails, no last-minute calls, no juggling a dozen things at once, just a well-deserved break for the women who make things happen every single day. We traded our laptops for lunch tables, swapped deadlines for dessert, and let conversations flow without a ticking clock in the background. And let’s just say, it was refreshing to talk about something other than timelines and client meetings for a change.
Between bites of delicious food and bursts of laughter, we rediscovered something so easily forgotten in the daily hustle, the simple joy of slowing down. We talked, we listened, we laughed over stories that had nothing to do with work (okay, maybe a little bit, old habits die hard). We got to know each other beyond our job titles and to-do lists, and somewhere between the appetizers and the main course, we realized that while we work together every day, we don’t always take the time to truly connect. Turns out, food is a great equalizer, and so is the collective sigh of relief that comes from knowing that for the rest of the day, there was nothing to rush back to.

And that’s what made this Women’s Day feel different. It wasn’t just a token celebration or a quick acknowledgment before diving back into emails. It was about creating space, space to step away, to breathe, to exist beyond the roles we play at work. Because appreciation isn’t just about words; it’s about action. It’s about recognizing that the women who seamlessly switch between work calls and life’s many responsibilities deserve more than just a day of recognition, they deserve moments of ease, moments where they’re not carrying the weight of a hundred different things at once.
As lunch wound down, so did our workday. No “just a quick call,” no “let’s circle back later”, just an open invitation to go home, put our feet up, and spend the rest of the day however we pleased. And that, more than anything, felt like the real gift. Because true appreciation isn’t about grand gestures; it’s about the little things that make a big difference. And this Women’s Day, that difference was made by something as simple as time, time to rest, to laugh, and to celebrate the women who make every other day run smoothly. It’s the same ethos that drives AnyMind, empowering individuals, recognizing their contributions, and creating spaces where people don’t just work, but thrive.
