On Thursday, 31st May 2018, AnyMind Group’s engineering department successfully hosted its first event, a sharing session titled “Microservices Architecture with AWS”.

The event was held in the AnyMind Group Tech Center office, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Our two speakers, Giang Tran, Head of Engineering, and Eduard Feliu Baena, Head of Data Science, shared how AnyMind Group arrived at its current cloud infrastructure. The discussion then moved on to building microservices – an essential element for today’s fast moving cloud-first world.

Apart from that, the speakers also shared the different infrastructure stacks used by AnyMind Group, issues faced when adopting a multi-cloud approach, and how AnyMind Group has utilized the resources available as a startup to increase delivery speed and productivity within the engineering department. This is vital for AnyMind Group, as the engineering team develops solutions across the advertising, marketing and human resource industries – each with their own unique challenges.

The session’s content was set up to encourage open sharing, and allowed the audience to learn from actual tech problems that AnyMind Group had encountered. This time around, the focus was on the issue of ensuring consistently-fast delivery from development to production.

This is of particular importance in a fast-growing start-up, as product development speed is key in maintaining this growth. Working with these considerations in mind makes for challenging times, but fruitful ones as well, with the team picking up insights and knowledge they might not have otherwise.

Additionally, the team is always looking to continuously improve the productivity of its development and operations functions, along with speedy issue management, dynamic feedback loops and agile development sprints, to ensure that products can scale from MVP to enterprise-level solutions quickly.

During the event, attendees had the chance to directly discuss issues they face in development with the speakers, and also participate in a networking session. Keeping in line with the event’s purpose of encouraging open sharing and learning, the networking session provided opportunities for everyone to learn from each other, discussing their unique tech issues and solutions.

The event proved to be useful for the attendees, who saw a lot of value in it. “Events such as these, which present solid knowledge about technology and practical examples of best practices, are not very common. That is why I found today’s event to be very meaningful to me, and to the tech community in general,” an audience member shared.
