Deputy Head of Finance, Finance

Finance, Ho Chi Minh City

This is a high-impact, commercial-facing leadership position. As the Deputy Head of Finance, you are the strategic co-pilot to the Country Manager. You will move beyond reporting numbers to owning profitability, cash discipline, and capital allocation across our service and e-commerce business models. You will be expected to use data to tell the story of where we are going, not just where we have been.

What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1. Strategic P&L Leadership

  • Full Ownership: Direct the Vietnam country P&L with a granular focus on Gross Profit (GP) by business unit, client, and product.
  • Performance Metrics: Monitor and improve GP per headcount (GP/FTE) and contribution margins.
  • Strategic Decisioning: Define allocation logic for shared costs (SG&A) and provide clear "Scale, Fix, or Stop" recommendations for business units.
  • Outcome: Transition business decisions from intuition-led to data-driven.

2. Cashflow & Working Capital Control

  • Proactive Management: Own the rolling 12-week cashflow forecast with high precision.
  • AR Strategy: Drive AR accountability by profiling client risk, setting credit terms, and establishing rigorous escalation protocols with Sales and Ops.
  • Optimization: Manage unbilled revenue and WIP to improve the overall cash conversion cycle.

3. E-commerce Financial Governance

  • Unit Economics: Build and maintain models that track contribution margin after platform fees, logistics, and ad spend.
  • Burn Rate Clarity: Differentiate between accounting profit and actual cash burn to eliminate financial blind spots.
  • Performance Partnering: Work with performance marketing teams on scenario planning to ensure every marketing dollar drives positive Operating Profit (OP).

4. Business Partnering & Scenario Planning

  • Advisory: Act as a peer-level advisor to BU Heads, stress-testing plans before execution.
  • Forward-Looking Models: Build scenarios for headcount scaling vs. GP impact and revenue mix shifts (Service vs. E-com).
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and flag potential financial deviations 1–2 months in advance.

5. Regional Interface & Governance

  • Credibility: Ensure timely monthly closes and audit readiness while representing Vietnam in regional discussions.
  • Advocacy: Translate regional KPIs into local reality, pushing back when regional metrics conflict with local business sustainability.

6. Team Transformation

  • Leadership: Transition the local finance team from "traditional accounting" to a "business finance" powerhouse.
  • Scalability: Implement tools and dashboards to reduce reliance on manual Excel workarounds.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • CPA qualification (or equivalent professional accounting certification) is required.
  • Experience leading a big scale team (8 - 10 members)
  • Ownership Mentality: Proven track record of owning a P&L with direct impact—not just reporting on it.
  • Deep understanding of GP mechanics, SG&A allocation, and unit economics.
  • Experience in high-growth, non-linear models (E-commerce, Platforms, or Performance-based agencies).
  • The ability to challenge senior BU leaders constructively, using data to influence commercial outcomes.
  • Good communication skills both Vietnamese and English
