Tech for All - AnyMind Group at Echelon Asia Summit 2018

AnyMind Group has grown very quickly in just over two years of existence, and this growth is largely down to an ever-increasing appetite to learn, progress and do more every day. As a tech startup, keeping in touch with the larger tech startup community is a key part of the process, and there aren’t many better opportunities to do so than at the Echelon Asia Summit, e27’s flagship event.

Serving as a common platform for a variety of players in the tech ecosystem to come together, including startups, investors, and government agencies, among others, Echelon is a microcosm of the burgeoning tech community in the APAC region.

Tech in all shapes and sizes

As a flagship tech event, the newly-consolidated Echelon Asia Summit 2018 lived up to its reputation. There were innovative technology solutions covering all manner of industries, with blockchain and AI-based solutions in particular taking up sizable amounts of the venue’s floorspace.

Even industries that don’t come immediately to mind as possible avenues for disruption got some play, with one company offering blockchain-enabled integrated biotech dairy farming (!) taking the unusual cake.

With much of the talks and panel discussions centered around starting and building companies, it was no surprise that a fair number of companies present were focused on the business of helping startups. This came in many forms, from co-working spaces to healthy food catering services.

Recruitment and localised solutions a common sight

Of these, perhaps what stood out most were the companies in the recruitment and hiring space. Big regional players and small startups alike put resources into establishing a significant presence of the showfloor, corroborating with recent reports and articles highlighting the demand for efficient hiring solutions, one which TalentMind is actively looking to meet with its AI-powered technology solutions.

As we move forward, expect this space to keep growing, likely with more of a focus on ‘performance-based’ or tech-based HR solutions, all in the name of streamlining the tricky business of recruiting and hiring, a pain point especially for startups.

The importance of localisation was also plain to see, with companies from less-heralded countries in the startup space such as Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Laos investing in booth spaces, and with many solutions on offer being highly market-specific. Even as startups move into more technologies and industries, the importance of addressing specific locations’ and people’s needs have not been forgotten, nor should it be.

Collaborating and Contributing

Our delegates to the event had a fruitful time, engaging attendees and fellow exhibitioners in conversations on advertising and marketing solutions, as well as higher-level tech discussions. In this fast-growing tech environment in Southeast Asia, it’s all about helping each other, collaborating and sharing expertise. You never know; a technology initially built to manage cross-border money transfers could find many useful applications in, say, cloud-based recruitment solutions.

Certainly, as AnyMind Group continues to grow, we will continue to seek opportunities to participate in and contribute to this exciting tech ecosystem!
